I bought this to build as an anniversary gift for my wife. I enjoy puzzles and woodworking so this was fun for me to put together but it did take several hours and was nerve wracking at a few points. I managed to get it together without breaking any pieces, although they do provider extras of several more delicate/critical pieces. I even found a musical movement with our wedding song that was almost identical. The end result turned out great and my wife said it is one of her favorite gifts I've ever given her. Here are some tips I can think of: 1. I used an xacto knife to carefully cut the tabs from the wooden pieces so they come out cleaner. 2. When pulling removing a piece consider which side will be visible and push that side up so and splintering happens on the back (cutting the fibers with a knife also helps). 3. Make sure you are thorough with the wax. I thought I was and it still was harder to move at first. 4. The movement will become smoother as it gets worked. I did sand one of the half gears down a bit though since it was catching on the plastic great when it switched directions. 5. Pay progreasively more attention to where you press when using force to put parts together. It's easy to pop things loose if you aren't careful. 6.. I got a Sankyo and the only difference was one hole wasn't tapped for a screw. I tapped it but i think you could also just use a nut on the other side.
